Panamanian footballer Kadir Barría, who plays for Botafogo in Brazil, has a new head coach following the resignation of manager Davide Ancelotti. The Rio-based club has announced Argentine coach Martín Rodrigo Anselmi as his replacement. Anselmi has signed a two-year contract until the end of 2027. The coach, who was recently in charge of Portuguese Porto, is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro next January. Anselmi will take command of Botafogo's preseason training on January 4. Next year, the team will compete in the Brazilian Championship, the Copa Libertadores (in the preliminary stage), the Copa do Brasil, and the Campeonato Carioca. Anselmi will lead the Rio de Janeiro team alongside his staff, which includes assistants Luis Piedrahita and Pablo De Muner, physical trainer Diego Bottaioli, and goalkeeping coach Darío Herrera. In its statement, Botafogo highlighted Anselmi's outstanding work as coach of Ecuador's Independiente del Valle, with whom he won the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa Ecuador in 2022. This feat made the 40-year-old coach the first in the club's history, and one of the youngest, to win both titles in the same season.
